THUNDER BAY NEWS – Ontario’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU) is examining the circumstances surrounding a collision between a Thunder Bay Police Service cruiser and another vehicle, which occurred on February 29, 2024. The Thunder Bay Police Service is fully cooperating with the SIU investigation.
The officer involved is currently on administrative leave.
The Special Investigations Unit has invoked their mandate. As such, all inquiries regarding the investigation are to be directed to the Special Investigations Unit.
The SIU is an independent government agency that investigates the conduct of police officers and other officials that may have resulted in death, serious injury, sexual assault and/or the discharge of a firearm at a person.
