Senior Citizen Recovered Physically Safe

Winnipeg – NEWS – There is some good news in an incident that started this morning in Winnipeg.

Earlier today, the Winnipeg Police Service issued a Silver Alert and provided information on the reported abduction of Sandra McLaughlin, a 63-year-old female with dementia.

Members of the Major Crimes Unit and Missing Persons Unit continued with the investigation with the help of front-line officers.

At 11:14 a.m., soon after the emergency alerting message was disseminated, a caller contacted 911 after they believed they saw the stolen Jeep travelling in Charleswood.

Officers immediately attended the area, and while it was determined it was a different (but similar) Jeep, they remained nearby and continued searching.

At 11:50 a.m., a West District General Patrol unit located the stolen Jeep abandoned in the Glendale neighbourhood. Sandra was found alone and physically unharmed inside the vehicle.

No arrests have been made at this time; however, the Major Crimes Unit is continuing with the investigation. Anyone with information regarding this matter is asked to contact investigators at 204-986-6219 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).

The Winnipeg Police Service wishes to thank the public and media for their help with the matter. We would also like to thank the RCMP for their assistance.
