Update #3 – Sioux Lookout OPP Release Name of 4th Person Killed in Plane Crash

SIOUX LOOKOUT – NEWS – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Sioux Lookout Detachment is now able to confirm the identity of the fourth victims of an airplane crash that occurred sometime between April 29 and April 30, 2022.

A search by Joint Rescue Coordination Centre-Trenton, Civil Air Search and Rescue Association and Ministry of Natural Resources commenced after an aircraft was reported overdue. The OPP investigation began at approximately 7:45 am on April 30, 2022 after the wreckage was located.

The final victim of the crash to be identified is Hankun HONG, age 27 of Richmond, British Columbia.

The OPP previously release the names of the other victims:

  • Gene LAHRKAMP, age 36 of Kincardine, Ontario
  • Abhinav HANDA, age 26 of Richmond, British Columbia
  • Duncan BAILEY, age 37 of Kamloops, British Columbia

Abhinav HANDA was the pilot and was operating the privately owned aircraft.

The OPP would like to thank Nishnawbe-Aski Police Service for their assistance throughout this investigation.

The crash remains under investigation by the Transportation Safety Board.
