Thunder Bay / OTTAWA – COVID-19 Update – The federal government will be doing a briefing this morning at 12:00 PM EST. At issue according to numerous sources is another slowdown in getting vaccines.

Canada was expected to receive four million doses of the Pfizer vaccine by the end of March, 2021.

Now that number is likely according to sources to be reduced by 500,000 doses to 3.5 million doses.

The reduction in vaccines is cause for extending the time frames in second doses for people. It is also causing concern across the country.

In Thunder Bay the outbreak at the Thunder Bay Correctional Facility and the Thunder Bay District Jail have provincial officials promising that workers and inmates in those and other Ontario jails will be getting vaccinated very soon.
