Sault Ste Marie – WEATHER – Environment Canada has updated the Snowfall Warning for the Sault Ste Marie region.

Snowfall with total amounts of 15 to 20 cm is expected.

Heavy snowfall begins tonight and continues into Wednesday morning.

Snow is expected to move into the region overnight and persist for much of the day on Wednesday. The snow may fall heavily at times, particularly overnight and early Wednesday morning. Total snowfall accumulations near 15 centimetres are expected. A few locations may receive in excess of 20 centimetres by Wednesday evening due to lake effect snow bands from lake Superior Wednesday afternoon into the evening.

Snowfall warning in effect for:

  • Agawa – Lake Superior Park
  • Sault Ste. Marie – St. Joseph Island
  • Searchmont – Montreal River Harbour – Batchawana Bay

Snow squall warnings may be issued after the main snowfall event due to snow bands that will likely become isolated by Wednesday evening.
