WINNIPEG – A man is dead following an attack by a group of people near Polo Park in Winnipeg.

Winnipeg Police report that on August 9, 2020, at 1:18 am CDT, officers responded to the 1400 block of St. Matthews Avenue for a report of an assault.

Upon their arrival, officers located a male suffering from serious injuries. He was transported to the hospital in critical condition where he succumbed to his injuries. The deceased victim has been identified as Anthony Evaristo Gonzales, a 30-year-old male of Winnipeg.

This investigation is continuing by members of the Homicide Unit. Anyone with information that may assist investigators is asked to call 204-986-6508 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).
