Dear Thunder Bay-Superior North,

I know that these are challenging times for all of us. We are missing our family members and friends, our kids are out of school, and many are currently without employment income. In times such as this, we are truly tested as a community. Thank you for the choices you are making every day to protect the vulnerable and #FlattenTheCurve. To all of the essential service workers who have been working around the clock to keep our fridges full, to keep our lights on, or to keep us safe and healthy, your work and sacrifices do not go unnoticed. Be kind to each other and yourselves, we will get through this together.

Our government is moving forward with Canada’s COVID-19 Emergency Response Plan to help Canadians and businesses in need. We are implementing supports for Canadians and workers who are in need as a result of COVID-19, and providing flexibility for Canadians to file their taxes by pushing back the deadlines to file and pay their annual taxes. The tax season for businesses is also being deferred, which will keep tens of billions of dollars in the economy.

These measures continue to evolve as we work to support Canadians through these challenging times. I encourage you to visit Canada.ca/economic-response-plan for full details.

Our response to COVID-19 has been, and will continue to be, based on science and evidence, and is guided by world-class health professionals and authorities. As the number of infected persons continues to grow within Canada, our government will take the necessary steps in order to keep all Canadians safe.

For up-to-date information, please use credible resources such as our government’s COVID-19 response website: www.canada.ca/coronavirus or download the Covid-19 app.

You can also consult the Thunder Bay District Health Unit at tbdhu.com/coronavirus or Province of Ontario coronavirus website at www.ontario.ca/coronavirus for information on additional measures taken at the local and provincial levels.

Stay safe, stay well and stay home.
