THUNDER BAY – Last week, Finance Minister Bill Morneau launched the 2020 pre-budget consultation process to give all Canadians the opportunity to offer their thoughts and ideas. We in Thunder Bay-Superior North have an important perspective to share.  As a region that has traditionally depended on resource extraction to grow our economy, we are seeing a revitalization of sectors like mining and forestry and economic diversification in our communities. We have always faced our unique challenges with creative resourcefulness and we have ideas and solutions to offer.

Our government continues to focus on building a plan that works for everyone. Together we have worked to improve infrastructure in our communities, diversify the economy, protect our natural surroundings, and move towards reconciliation. Through these consultations, our government wants to hear from you on how best to focus our resources to continue our work together. Whether you are a resident, business owner, professional and/ or advocate in Northwestern Ontario, you have an important perspective.

Over the coming weeks, we will be listening to the ideas of Canadians to inform and guide Budget 2020.  Have your say by visiting www.budget.gc.ca/PBC or emailing budget2020@canada.ca.
