THUNDER BAY – SPORTS – The Thunder Bay Border Cats took the lead in the first inning against the Eau Claire Express and in a game with lots of excitement pulled off the win.

The Cats moved to a two-game winning streak and have headed out on the road before returning home on August 1, 2019.

The game held the 900 fans in attendance throughout the contest with lots of scoring.

The star of the came was Cats bat catcher Alex Hernandez.

It was his two-run home run in the eighth inning that cemented the win. He also drove in two runs with a single in the third inning.

Joe Moran was the Cat’s starting pitcher and left the game after about 100 pitches with the Cats in the lead.

The final score was 11-8 with the Cats gaining confidence in the victory.

Editor’s Note: This season the Thunder Bay Border Cats have played better than the scoresheet has shown. The team has repeatedly shown signs of brilliance. At times, however, errors have crept in that have given their opponents the opportunity to capitalize. Last night the Cat’s had four errors, one of which allowed two runs to score. However, the team never panicked and held their composure to hold on for the win.

The Border Cats fans were in this game throughout, on a beautiful night for baseball. The Cats have now, with the victory improved to 4 wins and 14 losses for the 2nd half of the Northwoods League season.
