THUNDER BAY – The Board of Directors of the Nishnawbe Aski Police Service is pleased to announce the appointment of Roland Morrison as the Chief of Nishnawbe Aski Police Service, effective April 2, 2019.  Roland Morrison was the Acting Chief of Police since September 2018 following the retirement announcement of former Chief of Police Terry Armstrong.

Roland Morrison was born and raised in Moose Factory, Ontario and is a proud member of the Chapleau Cree First Nation.  He attended post-secondary education at Sir Sanford Fleming College in Peterborough, Ontario before joining the Nishnawbe Aski Police Service.

Roland Morrison has extensive experience in the areas of Front Line policing, Crime Unit, Front Line Supervisor, Executive Officer, and Regional Inspector.  Prior to his current appointment, he spent six years as the Deputy Chief of Police in charge of Operations.  This variety of experience deems Roland Morrison as the first recruited member of the Nishnawbe Aski Nation to move through the ranks to become Chief of Police.

An official swearing-in ceremony will be scheduled at a future date.
