Weapons Incident Results in Hold and Secure in Kenora

KENORA – On Tuesday, March 19, 2019, at approximately 2:10 pm CDT members of the Kenora Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to an incident in the north side of Kenora. While police were on general patrol, police observed an Indigenous male wearing black clothing carrying a weapon near a school zone.

The Kenora OPP advised all schools to place a hold and secure as a precautionary measure.

Members of the OPP and Northwest Region Canine immediately patrolled the area and minutes later, the male youth was apprehended and taken into custody.

The hold and secure was lifted at approximately 2:45 pm CDT.

The investigation is continuing.
