THUNDER BAY – NEWS – Two Thunder Bay Police Service officers were travelling southbound along Water Street just before 3 pm on Saturday, February 16, 2019, when they observed what looked to be an assault in progress inside the Water Street overpass.

When officers arrived at the scene two females were continuing to assault a male victim inside the overpass.

Officers intervened and both accused women were placed under arrest after a brief struggle.

A passerby assisted officers as they completed the arrest.

The victim was rendered unconscious and sustained significant facial injuries during the attack. It is very likely he would have sustained much more severe injuries had it not been for the observant police officers who happened to be in the area.

Jessie CHAPAIS, 24, of Thunder Bay, has been charged with Assault, Assault Causing Bodily Harm and Obstruct Peace Officer.

Veronica Georgina Lynn SKUNK, 28, of Thunder Bay, has been charged with Assault Causing Bodily Harm and Obstruct Peace Officer.

Both appeared in court Sunday morning and have been remanded into custody with a future court date.
