MADISON, WI — The Gridlink Midget A Queens captured the gold medal at the CanAm Challenge Cup in Madison, Wisconsin on Sunday.

After going undefeated in four round-robin games, outscoring their opponents 24-1, the Queens earned their spot into the championship game against the Lady Rough Riders out of Superior, Colorado. Sarah Grieve opened scoring in the first but the Lady Rough Riders tied the game early in the second. Gaby Andreacchi retook the lead for the Queens with a goal but the Colorado team responded in the third, again tying the game. Finally, Queens Captain Caitlin Olinski scored the eventual “golden goal” with time ticking down in the game while netminder Mya Gowanlock held the one-goal lead, stopping 30 of 32 shots in the game, giving the Midget As a 3-2 win the CanAm Challenge Cup!
