Edmonton, AB – SPORTS – The Lakehead men’s basketball team lost 107-70 to the UBC Thunderbirds tonight in Edmonton, Alberta in their last preseason game.
The T-Birds pushed ahead early on in the first and held the lead for the entire game. With UBC putting up 28 points in both the first and second quarter, the Thunderwolves trailed 56-40 at halftime.
The Thunderwolves tried to turn it around in the third but were no match against UBC as they maintained their strong play in the second half and the Thunderwolves lost 107-70 at the final buzzer.
Kevin Ndahiro had 11 points tonight while Isaiah Traylor had 10. Lock Lam, Davarius Wright, Alston Harris, Jared Kreiner and Blake Anderson contributed 6 points each.
“A tough game against a very talented UBC team. They played hard from the start and really our offence was solid but defensively we weren’t locked in and ready to execute. This weekend, despite the two losses, was a good opportunity for us to grow and improve as it exposes a lot of our weaknesses and what we need to improve on to start the regular season” – Head Coach Ryan Thomson
The Thunderwolves will now open the regular season at home next weekend with a doubleheader against Algoma.
