Winnipeg Child Psychologist Charged with Child Pornography

WINNIPEG – A Winnipeg child psychologist been charged with possession of child pornography.

Winnipeg police announced Thursday they had laid the charge against Gary Anthony Shady, a 72-year-old man.

In early October 2018, the Winnipeg Police Service’s Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) Unit entered into an investigation regarding child sexual abuse imagery being sent on an online storage and cloud computing service. The provider had notified the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children in the United States who in turn alerted the National Child Exploitation Coordination Centre in Ottawa and the Winnipeg Police Service.

During the morning of October 10, 2018, members of the ICE Unit took a male into custody and executed a search warrant at a residence in the Fort Rouge area. An electronic device displaying child sexual abuse images was located and seized. Other electronic devices were also seized.

Gary Anthony Shady, a 72-year-old male of Winnipeg, has been charged with:

– Possession of Child Pornography

He has been detained in custody.
