THUNDER BAY – WEATHER – A low-pressure system coming up from the United States is going to impact parts of Northwestern Ontario starting on Monday night. Environment Canada has issued a Rainfall Warning for the Nipigon – Superior North – Marathon region.

Rainfall warning in effect for:

  • Marathon – Schreiber

Rain, heavy at times is expected. The frozen ground has a reduced ability to absorb this rainfall.

Rainfall amounts of 25 to 50 mm expected tonight to Monday night.

Rain will begin after midnight and end late Monday night or early Tuesday morning.

This rain is part of a low-pressure system currently developing over Wyoming that will track across Lake Superior Monday.

Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. If visibility is reduced while driving, slow down, watch for taillights ahead and be prepared to stop.
