OPP Update on Red Lake Murder

RED LAKE, ON – NEWS – On November 7, 2017, Andrew RAE, 26 years old of Red Lake was arrested for second-degree murder.

On November 9, 2017, Jason KAKEKAGUMICK, 31 years old of Red Lake was arrested in Dryden for second-degree murder. The arrest was made with the assistance of the Tactical Rescue Unit (TRU) Emergency Response Team (ERT) and Canine Unit.

Both men were charged as a result of the death of a 43-year-old man. John MacDougall of Red Lake was identified as the victim in the homicide investigation that commenced on October 29, 2017, when he was located outside in the area of Howey Street in Red Lake.

The investigation was led under the direction of Detective Inspector Darryl Sigouin of the Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) with officers from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) North West Region Crime Unit and Red Lake Detachment.

Both accused will remain in custody and will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Kenora on November 10, 2017.

None of the charges have been proven in a court of law.
