Impaired Driving Charges Follow Theft of Beer from Safeway

Thunder Bay Police laid impaired driving charges

THUNDER BAY – More impaired driving charges in Thunder Bay. Thunder Bay Police are reporting that two Thunder Bay women are facing criminal charges following an incident last night in the city’s north side.

TBPS patrol officers responded to reports of a theft of beer from the Dawson Road Safeway last night just after 8:45 p.m.

It was alleged that the two females had taken beer from the store and then fled the store driving in an erratic manner from the parking lot in a Kia Optima.

The vehicle was later involved in a hit and run collision with a pickup truck on West Arthur Street near Euclid Avenue.

The Kia was stopped by police just before 11:00 PM at Inglewood Crescent and University Drive.

The two female occupants were arrested by police officers.

The 18-year-old female driver has been charged with Theft Under $5,000, Dangerous Driving, Failure to Stop at the Scene of an Accident and Impaired Driving.

The 22-year-old female passenger has been charged with Theft Under $5,000.
