Canada's First Homicide of 2014 happened in Saskatoon SaskatchewanRED LAKE – John MacDougall, 43-years of age of Red Lake has been identified as the victim in the homicide investigation that commenced on October 29, 2017, when a male was located outside in the Norseman Heritage Park on Howey Street in Red Lake.

Members of the Red Lake Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Detachment, North West Region Forensic Identification Unit, Emergency Response Team, Underwater Search and Recovery Unit in conjunction with the North West Region Crime Unit are continuing their investigation under the direction of Detective Inspector Darryl Sigouin of the Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB).

The OPP reminds all members of the public to be aware of their personal safety at all times. The OPP’s website, www.opp.ca, contains a number of useful resources, tips, and links.

The scene has been released today, however, the homicide investigation is continuing and police are asking any persons with information relating to this investigation or the deceased, and anyone who was in the area of the Norsemen Heritage Park from evening of Saturday, October 28, 2017, through the morning of Sunday, October 29, 2017, to contact the Red Lake OPP Detachment (807)727-2418, the OPP Communication Centre at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
