South May Street Fire Knocked Down by Police and Fire Rescue

THUNDER BAY – Thunder Bay Fire Rescue was called out at 04:19 to a structure fire on South May Street.

This fire was discovered by Thunder Bay Police who were patrolling the area due to a suspicious vehicle fire that was being extinguished by fire personnel.

The first arriving Fire Rescue unit on May Street noticed a small fire at the rear of the structure.

A fast acting police officer discharged a fire extinguisher on the fire while a second police officer filled a nearby garbage can with water and extinguished the remainder of the fire.

Fire personnel opened up the exterior wall of the structure to ensure that fire had not travelled deeper into the wall .

This fire was contained to a small area of the exterior with limited damage to the building.

All occupants were allowed to return to their apartments in short order.

There were no injuries involved in this fire and Thunder Bay Police are investigating the suspicious nature of this fire.
