Traffic Stop Yields Drugs, Jewelry and Cash

THUNDER BAY – Thunder Bay Police Service patrol officers located a Black Ford F150 outside an Egan Place address shortly before 2:00PM on June 13, 2017. As the officers were approaching the scene, the officers were advised by TBPS communication that the vehicle has been reported as stolen from a local rental car company.

The two males were arrested and searched at the scene.

During the search, a number of pieces of jewelry with tags still attached were located in their pockets along with large sums of cash, marihuana, pills, and a knife.

Both males were escorted to the Balmoral Police Station and the vehicle was towed for further investigation.

Dwayne James Godfrey, a twenty-two-year-old male from Ottawa has been charged with Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000 and Breach of Probation.

Abdullah Al-Shammari, a twenty-year-old-old also from Ottawa has been charged with Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000, Carrying a Concealed Weapon, Possession of a Controlled Substance and Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking.

Both males appeared in court this morning and have been remanded into custody.
