ATTAWAPISKAT – SPECIAL to NNL –  This evening it was a beautiful and heartfelt evening at our local community gym in Attawapiskat.

A benefit concert was planned couple of days ago, spearedheaded by Jerry Nakogee, and with the help of other community members who felt compelled to do something to help the search for a young man who had gone missing in Thunder Bay.

Such a young man gone far to soon . When our community heard of his passing of this young man, it was felt all over and touched the hearts of many of us, far and wide, even in our communities where we live. I am sure a lot of us parents, fathers, mothers, mooshooms, kookooms , brothers, sisters, etc, felt it, waiting and worrying.

The benefit concert planned went ahead as scheduled on Saturday, May 20th in our community. Our hearts go out to his family, relations, friends, community and those that was touched far and wide.

Entertainment musicians came together to make this possible, Nakogee gospel band, Jerry and his boys, William Sutherland and his son, River. Also Adrian Sutherland and Midnight Shine. If I forgotten any other singers, my apologies.

A bake sale was held also, and a Toonie table fundraiser –all donated items by community members that lasted til 10:30PM.

I must say, I was very impressed with everyone that helped and made this possible. You are all great!
