A major spring storm is forecast to impact Far Northern Ontario Friday night though Saturday.

Precipitation will begin late Friday for areas along the Manitoba border and then spread to the James Bay coast by Saturday morning. A swath of heavy snow is expected with this storm with total snowfall amounts of 20 to 30 cm likely. Current indications suggest this swath of heavy snow will affect southern portions of the Big Trout Lake – Sachigo Lake region and areas eastward towards Attawapiskat. South of the heavy snow, freezing rain and ice pellets are likely.

Environment Canada meteorologists will continue to monitor this developing situation closely.
