KENORA – Bob Nault, Member of Parliament (Kenora riding), issued the following statement regarding Senator Beyak’s dismissal from the Senate Standing Committee on Aboriginal People:

“I agree with Rona Ambrose’s decision to remove Senator Beyak from the Aboriginal Peoples Committee. Senator Beyak is grossly misinformed about the horrific impacts that the residential school system has had on generations of First Nations people, and to have her continue to sit on the committee would be an injustice to those whom the committee is meant to serve.

“As the representative of a riding with 42 First Nations, I have heard the heartbreaking stories of those forced into the IRS, and I have seen, firsthand, the tragic affects it has had on generations of First Nations people. I would like to invite Senator Beyak to visit the First Nations communities in the Kenora riding to meet survivors, so that she might begin to understand that there are no positive outcomes of the IRS.”
