Rainfall Warning Update – November 28/16 21:25rs

THUNDER BAY – Heavy rain in the Thunder Bay region is continuing. Environment Canada has continued the Rainfall Warning for the city and surrounding area.

In addition the Lakehead Region Conservation Authority has issued a Flooding Alert.

Rainfall warning in effect for:

  • City of Thunder Bay
  • Nipigon – Rossport
  • Kakabeka Falls
  • Cloud Bay – Dorion
  • Kakabeka Falls
  • Whitefish Lake – Arrow Lake

Total rainfall amounts of 50 to 75 mm are likely by Tuesday morning.

Most areas near the Lake Superior shoreline have received 30 to 40 mm of rain through the day Monday. A second surge of rain has begun and an additional 15 to 35 mm could fall before tapering off late Tuesday morning.

Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible.
