SIOUX LOOKOUT – SPORTS – The Little Bands Native Youth Hockey Tournament Committee in partnership with the Municipality of Sioux Lookout and Lac Seul First Nation, is pleased to announce that the 2017 tournament will be held at the Sioux Lookout Memorial and Lac Seul arenas on the dates of February 12 – 19, 2017.

A lot of negotiations have taken place to arrive at this announcement.

The Little Bands Native Youth Hockey Tournament organizers choose Sioux Lookout and Lac Seul because this is where we started 15 years ago , this was where we struggled and this is where we grew. We are now coming back.

Sioux Lookout has also grown through the years and we also felt they can accommodate our needs, and the players and fan’s needs. The last few years has seen 50-55 teams with over 900 players in 6 divisions play in this tournament.

This announcement also offers Sioux Lookout businesses and the entire community a great opportunity to be warm and inviting hosts for hundreds of young hockey players and their families. Besides the great investment into the local economy, the Sioux Lookout and Lac Seul arena will be fully booked for the week long tournament using both surfaces and we look forward to seeing Sioux Lookout and Lac Seul residents and businesses enjoy the games and develop friendships with the First Nation peoples and neighbours that will be coming into our communities.

Free WiFi and concession stands will be available on-site at both arenas for everyone and the media are welcome to attend. You can contact us if you want to sponsor the event in any way. We are excited and look forward to a fantastic week-long event in February.
