Habitat for HumanityTHUNDER BAY – LIVING – Habitat for Humanity Thunder Bay has 560 reasons why the community should get behind its first ever Stud-a-Thon, happening September 17th and 18th at the Habitat for Humanity Thunder Bay ReStore. Well, 559 as of Friday afternoon when Habitat for Humanity joined presenting sponsor Kristana Leger of Re/Max First Choice Realty to sign and personalize the first stud in a ceremony kicking off registration for the brand new event, which will give the community a chance to make a lasting, personal and colourful impression on Habitat for Humanity’s 28th home build later this year.

“Individuals or teams can sponsor 2×4 or 2×6 studs and then head down to the ReStore the weekend of September 17th for a big community party and barbeque where they can personalize and dress up their studs before they become a permanent part of our new home build,” Habitat for Humanity Thunder Bay Fund Development Coordinator Amber Prairie said.

“All of the studs, donated by Resolute Forest Products, will be used for the frame of the home. Just think of how amazing it will look when the frame is up and all of those personal messages are there for everyone to see! The community really stepped up to help us make this new build happen and I know they’ll be there for us again. Sponsors can choose to join us either Saturday or Sunday during the event or they can sign up for both days and make a whole weekend out of it.”

Habitat for Humanity Thunder Bay’s funding relies solely on the generosity of the community. Along with leaving a legacy within the walls of a home made possible through that generosity, stud sponsors are ensuring that Habitat for Humanity remains in the community for its next build.

“What a great way to show our support for such an important community organization like Habitat for Humanity Thunder Bay,” Kristana Leger said.

“From the sponsorship drive to the Stud-a-Thon itself to the amazing number of messages we’ll no doubt see once the home is framed, this event will be a fantastic example of showing the community’s generosity.”

Studs are $25 per 2×4 or $50 for a 2×6. Register today by visiting stud-a- thon.eventbrite.ca or calling (807) 345-5520 x388.
