O’Connor Township Declares State of Emergency

THUNDER BAY – The waters from Saturday’s 92mm rainfall are receding. However that is not ending problems across the city and region.

O’Connor Township has declared a State of Emergency.

Water has receded but some roads are still closed and other are in  poor condition .  Garbutt Road from Highway 590 to Holomego Road is Closed.     Please note that this one of the  Ministry of Transportation detour route for the Highway 595 Road Closure.  Please use the alternate detour route on Pool Road and Whittaker Road.

Sovereign Road between Highway 590 and Fleming Road is Closed.

Smith Road between Garbutt Road and Harstone Road is closed.

The road crew are currently working on the roads and information will be updated as roads are reopened.

Across Thunder Bay many residents are working to dry out their basements which were flooded. Some homes in the Wiley Street area of Evergreen Neighbourhood were flooded. Other basements in Northwood, and in Westfort were flooded as well according to reports coming in to NNL,
