THUNDER BAY – Residents in Greenstone remain under a State of Emergency this morning. Wildfires have closed several major highways across the region. Highway 11 between Hearst and Longlac is still closed. Highway 584 to Nakina is also closed.

Highway 17 which was closed at White River has been re-opened.

In Geraldton, natural gas to homes and businesses has been shut off as a precaution.

Residents are being reminded not to try to re-light gas appliances or water heaters once the supply is turned back on.

Weather conditions should help. Precipitation is in the forecast for the region.

Environment Canada is calling for showers ending this morning then cloudy with 40 percent chance of showers. High 20. UV index 4 or moderate. Tonight, Mainly cloudy. 40 percent chance of showers this evening. Low 12.
