OPP Seize 5.5 pounds of Marijuana

FORT FRANCES – The Ontario Provincial Police report that an on-going investigation into drug trafficking on the Couchiching First Nation has resulted in the arrest of a nineteen-year-old man and the seizure of about 5.5 pounds of marijuana.

The drug bust happened on February 21st 2016, at about 3:20PM EST. OPP report that as a result of a traffic stop conducted by members of the Rainy River District Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police, (OPP) were able to make the seizure.

The traffic stop happened on King’s Highway #11 on Couchiching First Nation.

Police state that as a result of their investigation the nineteen-year-old has been charged with Possession for Purpose of Trafficking, and Trafficking Schedule II Substance under the Controlled Drug and Substance Act, and Unauthorized Possession of a Weapon under The Criminal Code.

The suspect was released on a Promise to Appear in court on May 16, 2016 to answer to the charge.
