Freezing Rain its possible in Ontario's Far North
Environment Canada is calling for the possibility of freezing rain today.
Freezing Rain is falling in Manitowadge, Geraldton and Longlac

THUNDER BAY – WEATHER – The predicted freezing rain is falling in Manitowadge, Geraldton, Longlac and other parts of Northwestern Ontario.

5:20 AM EDT Wednesday 21 October 2015
Freezing rain warning in effect for:

  • Geraldton – Longlac – Caramat
  • Manitouwadge – Hornepayne
  • Beardmore – Jellicoe – Macdiarmid
  • Gull Bay – Black Sturgeon Lake

Freezing rain is expected or occurring.

A developing low pressure system is expected to track across Lake Superior later today. Precipitation is developing across Northwestern Ontario early this morning and a band of freezing rain is expected to affect regions North of Superior beginning early this morning. It will change to rain in the afternoon for regions just north of Lake Superior but persist into the evening for some areas near and northeast of Geraldton.

Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery. Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions.

Freezing Rain Warnings are issued when rain falling in sub-zero temperatures creates ice build-up and icy surfaces.
