Thunder Bay Kings Hockey Heads to Blaine Minnesota for Weekend

THUNDER BAY – The Thunder Bay major and minor midget Kings are off to Blaine, Minn., for their second weekend of play in the North American Prospects Hockey League, which will be held at the Schwan Super Rinks in Blaine, Minn.

Game action for the major midget under-18 side begins Friday at 1:15 p.m. when they take on the San Diego Jr. Gulls.

That will be followed by a 9:30 p.m. encounter vs. the Esmark Stars from Pittsburgh.

Their lone match-up Saturday goes against the Wenatchee Wolves from Washington State at 3:30 p.m.

Sunday has the U-18s taking on the Pikes Peak Miners from Colorado, which features a 1:15 p.m. face-off, before they round out play Monday morning with the Madison Capitols providing the opposition at 9 a.m.

The major midgets went 2-2-1 in their initial NAPHL games last month.

As for the under-16 minor midgets, they take to the ice at 5:15 p.m. Friday as they tangle with the Arizona Bobcats.

Two more tilts are on their slate Saturday starting against the California Titans at 11 a.m. followed by 9:30 p.m. meeting vs. the Washington Little Capitals.

Kelowna, B.C.’s Pursuit of Excellence takes on the U-16 Kings Sunday at 5:45 p.m. before they wrap-up play Monday with a 1 p.m. matinee vs. the New Jersey Jr. Titans.

The minor midgets went 1-4 in their first round of NAPHL competition.
