Crash at Balsam Street and Huron Avenue Sends One Driver To Hospital

Thunder Bay PoliceTHUNDER BAY – A crash at Balsam Street and Huron Avenue sent the driver of one vehicle to Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre.

Thunder Bay Police report that at about 08:00AM EDT this morning, emergency services including Fire, Police and EMS responded to a collision in the intersection of Balsam Street and Huron Avenue.

An investigation by police determined that there was northbound black Chevrolet pick-up truck on Balsam Street that struck an eastbound red Pontiac sedan on Huron Avenue within the intersection.

The intersection is controlled by a four-way stop.

The thirty-five-year old female driver of the Pontiac suffered minor injuries and was taken to Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre by Superior EMS.

The thirty-seven-year old male driver of the pick-up was not injured.

Traffic was snarled for about an hour as police had to have both vehicles towed from the scene.

Police Report that a charge is pending, and that it has been determined that there was a stop sign violation that caused the crash.
