EAR FALLS – BUSINESS – Unifor National Representative, Stephen Boon is confirming that Unifor has formally applied for conciliation yesterday after negotiations covering almost 20 municipal workers at the Township of Ear Falls broke down last week.

Boon said, “We have traditionally had a very good, harmonious relationship with the administration and council in Ear Falls, but for some reason the current mayor and council have now decided to push an extremely aggressive list of bargaining demands that may lead to a new, more confrontational relationship going forward.”

Boon said, “As Ear Falls starts to benefit from the first wave of almost 300 good paying Unifor mill and woodlands jobs at EACOM’s re-starting Ear Falls sawmill, I am pretty surprised this current council appears to be picking a fight by taking a hardball approach towards its municipal workforce.”
