Gas Leak Causes Evacuation in Kapuskasing

KAPUSKASING – The James Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police is at the scene of an unknown gas leak in the Lang Street and O’Brien area in the Town of Kapuskasing.

OPP is assisting the Kapuskasing Fire Department in the emergency evacuation of that area of Town for the safety of the public.

This is a mandatory evacuation and Police must clear that area until the source of the leak can be located and repaired.

Affected residents will be sent to the evacuation center until it is declared safe to return.

If you live in the Lang and O’Brien area you are asked to leave immediately and register at the Sports Palace (arena).

The Hwy 11 connecting link remains open (Government Road).
