Hydro Crews Working to Restore Power

THUNDER BAY – Snowfall amounts across the district ran up to 30cm. The wet heavy snow impacted driving and powerlines. Thunder Bay Hydro and Hydro One were working all day and into the evening to restore power to rural customers in the west parts of Thunder Bay.

Thunder Bay Hydro reports, “A spring storm featuring heavy wet snow left thick accumulations in the west parts of the city bringing down trees, damaging hydro poles and causing multiple outages for rural customers of Thunder Bay Hydro.

Currently ~1000 customers remain without power. Major areas affected include:

• Gratton Road north of John Street Road
• John Street Road west of Belrose including Toms, Paquette, Community Hall Thompson, White Park.
• Hodder Avenue north of Black Bay extended to rural areas off Copenhagen
• Melbourne Road
• Kivikoski Road
• Dog Lake Road
• Scotland Drive
• Mt. McKay Crescent
• Norwester Drive

Crews continued to work through the evening hours.Hydro One is showing forty-four customers who are still awaiting the restoration of their electricity.
