National Chief Atleo stated:

“It is with a heavy heart that I offer condolences to the entire community of Mishkeegogamang Ojibway Nation on behalf of the Assembly of First Nations, national executive committee, Elders, Youth and Women’s Councils. It is in difficult times that First Nations come together to mourn, to support and to comfort one another, and we offer the community any assistance that may be helpful at this time. May positive and happier memories of those lost help the community find peace during this very difficult time. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.”

Mishkeegogamang Ojibway Nation is located in northwestern Ontario.

A horrific fire in the First Nation community has seen a mother, her two children and a nephew killed.
