Polar Vortex Grip Should Grow Weaker

THUNDER BAY – Weather-  The Polar Vortex will have a grip on Northern Ontario today with wind chill warnings across the region today. Environment Canada has issued warnings for Thunder Bay, the District of Thunder Bay, and then right across the region for Kenora, Vermilion Bay, Red Lake, Ear Falls, Sioux Lookout, Nipigon, Manitowadge, Marathon, Terrace Bay, and for the entire north.

Environment Canada states, “Extreme wind chills of minus 45 to possibly minus 50 are occurring over the regions this morning.

“Temperatures of near minus 30 or lower are combining with bitter northwest winds to create extreme wind chills this morning. Conditions will improve as temperatures slowly edge upward beginning later this morning”.
