THUNDER BAY – Last May, Thunder Bay was hit with massive flooding. All Thunder Bay heard was silence from Dalton McGuinty. This May, Thunder Bay has been hit with flooding.

Thunder Bay is being hit, once again with silence from the Premier’s office. Premier Wynne has not reached out to Thunder Bay.

Premier Wynne –  (807) 625-3600 is the Mayor’s Number

Premier Wynne, here in Thunder Bay, we realize it is Victoria Day. We understand it is a holiday. Our City is being hit with a crisis, and it is part of your job to be there too. Right?

We don’t figure you should drop everything and fly up here right away, but a phone call is the least you can do. Never let us think you wouldn’t even do the least you could do.

You were Dalton’s messenger last year, remember showing up to meet with the Basement Bunch?

It might sound a little harsh to expect that the Premier would be making a quick call to the Mayor of Thunder Bay, on a holiday. However that is one of the tasks that a Premier does. They call during a crisis, and they ask what can they do to help.

For Dalton McGuinty, his communications on Thunder Bay were so bad that his communications team actually Tweeted NetNewsLedger when the Premier made a statement on the flooding in Wawa later that year.

Northern Ontario and especially Northwestern Ontario were, at least according to the promises made by Premier Wynne going to have a special place in her Government. Now is a good time for deeds, not words to rule the roost.

When government leaders delay in responding, I remember President George W. Bush and his response to Hurricane Katrina – it framed his image. When President Ronald Reagan was running for office, the GOP used an ad featuring wolves and bears. The question was ‘when the phone rings at 3AM, who will be there to answer it?

It is NOT life threatening in Thunder Bay right now, it is however by not jumping on the phone, it is image setting.

Can you honestly afford to ignore Thunder Bay like your friend Dalton McGuinty did in 2012?

(807) 625-3600 is the Mayor’s Number. I am sure he would take your call.
