Hobbema RCMP responded to a call at the Pigeon Lake Reserve – Homicide charges laid

RCMPRCMP HOBBEMA – Crimebeat – On August 30th, at approximately 11:00PMMDT, Hobbema RCMP responded to a call at the Pigeon Lake Reserve near the summer village of Ma Me O Beach. Upon arrival, they found a 17-year-old local male suffering from life-threatening injuries.

Perry Johnson was transported to hospital by EMS and died as a result of his injuries on August 31, 2012. The Edmonton Medical Examiner’s Office has ruled his death a homicide.

A homicide investigation by Wetaskiwn and Hobbema RCMP General Investigation Section (GIS) in consultation with “K” Division Major Crimes Unit (MCU) revealed that the fatal injuries were sustained during a fight with another man.

Chris Norbert, age 22 of the Saddle Lake First Nation, has been charged with Second Degree Murder. He is being held in custody until he appears in Wetaskiwin Court on September 11, 2012.

The family of the deceased has requested privacy during this time of grief.
