Lakehead Thunderwolves Baseball Sweeps Saturday Duo Over Minnesota

ThunderwolvesTHUNDER BAY – (Courtesy Jason Hart) The Lakehead Thunderwolves baseball team swept a doubleheader today at Baseball Central against the University of Minnesota Golden Gophers.

Game 1
Lakehead University 9
University of Minnesota 7

John Caron hit a 2 run walk off home run in the bottom of the 7th inning to lead the Thunderwolves (9-4, 3-1) over the Golden Gophers 9-7. Ian MacDonald was the winning pitcher for Lakehead coming in relief of Jon Brattengeier, who went 6 1/3 inning before giving way to MacDonald in the top of the 7th.

Alex Sinkins 3-4, 3 rbi and 1 run scored
Zach Kotarac, 3-4, 1 rbi
Craig Steele 2-3, 3 runs scored,1 rbi and a HR

Lakehead University 11
University of Minnesota 7

The Thunderwolves (10-4, 4-1) erupted for 7 runs in the 4th inning to beat the Golden Gophers 11-7 in the second game of the doubleheader.

Zach Kotarac 2-3, 2 runs scored
Drew Childs 4-4, 1 run and 1 rbi

Winning pitcher was Aaron Lagadin, who tossed 4 innings, giving up 4 runs on 4 hits. Cody Thurlow pitched 2 1/3 and Ian MacDonald finished the game geting the final 2 outs for Lakehead.

Game 3 goes Sunday morning at 11 a.m. at Baseball Central.
