Severe Thunder Storms Expected in Pickle Lake Cat Lake

weather alertCAT LAKE – PICKLE LAKE – News -Updated- Sunday July 17 2011 …This warning has ended —- 5:41EDT – July 16/2011- Environment Canada reports, “At 5:20 PM EDT, weather radar is indicating that a severe thunderstorm is tracking eastward at 70 km/h. This thunderstorm is 120 km northeast of Red Lake and will move into the Cat Lake and Pickle Lake area by 6:30 PM EDT. This severe thunderstorm is capable of producing 4 cm hail with wind gusts to 100 km/h.

“Severe thunderstorms are imminent or occurring in the area. These storms may produce large hail, damaging winds or heavy rainfall. Remember that some severe thunderstorms can also produce tornadoes.

“Monitor weather conditions and take immediate safety precautions if threatening weather approaches.

“Conditions are favourable for the formation of severe thunderstorms this evening over Northwestern Ontario. Some of these thunderstorms may become severe with large hail, damaging winds, and torrential downpours being the main threats”.
