THUNDER BAY – When you are wondering what to do tonight, think Urban Star. The 2011 Urban Star Contest is in Thunder Bay at Jack’s on Cumberland Street this weekend. The excitement kicked off Friday night and continues until Sunday. The Urban Boutique team was pleasantly surprised when the Urban Star crew dropped by unexpectedly and here’s what they had to say about the Urban Star Contest in Thunder Bay this weekend.
“Urban Star isn’t just showcasing the best talent. It’s allowing every artist the chance to showcase themselves on a grassroots level but on an international scale. This is what sets us apart from the others that just position themselves in the large cities,” says creator of Urban Star, Chris Sharpe.
“Coming to smaller towns and cities like Thunder Bay allows the opportunity that artists many not have in other competitions. It has been a long process says Sharpe and it all started from an idea then finally manifested into reality.”
The Urban Star crew are in Thunder Bay for the weekend and all are welcome to attend the 2 launch parties:
Fri @ Jack AA, doors open @ 8pm
Sat @ Jack 19+, doors open @ 8pm
Sunday Auditions @ Jacks, 11am – 5pm
Come out to support our local artists that will be participating in the Canada wide search for the next Urban Star.
