Chief Bob HermanTHUNDER BAY – In September of this year, I commenced discussions with the Thunder Bay Police Services Board around the issue of retiring from policing. In mid October, the Thunder Bay Police Services Board and I came to an agreement regarding my retirement from the Thunder Bay Police Service.

Effective July 7, 2011, I will cease to serve as the Chief of Police of the Thunder Bay Police Service. At the time of my retirement I will have completed 32 years of service to the citizens of Thunder Bay.

It will have been an extreme privilege to serve this community as Chief of Police for almost eleven years and as a police officer for 32 years. Public service is a calling that I have been proud to have participated in for my entire career.

I thank the men and women of the Thunder Bay Police Service, the members of the Thunder Bay Police Services Board, City Councils past and present and the citizens of Thunder Bay for the opportunity to serve.

Robert P. Herman
