Canada Day Weekend Fun Ideas for you to enjoy!

Canada DayTHUNDER BAY – Are you looking for fun and excitement this Canada Day? Across Thunder Bay there are many things to do to celebrate our nation’s 143rd Birthday.

You can make your way to Fort William Historic Park and enjoy the many family friendly events. You can also head to Marina Park for the annual Canada Day Festivities.

From 5:00PM until 11:30PM there is a full slate of activities at Marina Park. Keep in mind that parking at the Marina on Canada isn’t available. There are free shuttle buses with Thunder Bay Transit.

Here are the locations:

  • PARK n’ RIDE on the FREE shuttle bus to Marina Park (4:30 pm to 12:30 am) from:
  • Community Auditorium (1 Paul Shaffer Drive)
  • Intercity Shopping Centre (1000 Fort William Road) – Zellers parking lot, across street from Canadian Tire gas bar
  • Thunder Bay 55 Plus Centre (700 River St)

You can also enjoy some Canada Day fun at Ruby Moon on Court Street which is open. Atop the Moon you can enjoy great food and entertainment from Tall Poppy Syndrome from noon until 3PM.

Down the street at Tony and Adams, in addition to the usual crowd there are drink and food specials for you to enjoy.

On Red River Road, at the GameSpark Café, they are hosting a First Annual Canada Day Yard Sale from 1PM until 8PM. You can purchase used games at a discount.

At the 31@ Junot Centre, you can check out the expanded selection of treats! There are Sugar Daddys, BBBats, Bit-O-Honey, and Jones Candy too. For the Canada Day weekend, with any refreshing slush, you can add a bag of Old Dutch Chips for only $1 extra.

On the south side of Thunder Bay, while they are closed today, Take A Hike is open on Friday and Saturday. “Anything red is 10% off over the Canada Day Weekend,” shares Diane Petryna, the shop owner. “All you have to do for this ‘secret sale’ is tell our staff you want the ten percent Canada Day discount”.

For dinner, and one of Thunder Bay’s best pizzas, Mama Alfa’s Pizzeria in the bustling Westfort District is open on Canada Day for your dining pleasure. Call 623-4567 for reservations or to place your order.
