THUNDER BAY – Wasaya Airways is pleased to announce the appointment of its new President and Chief Executive Officer, James Ward.

James Ward brings with him 15 years’ experience working with First Nation communities. James gained valuable leadership and aviation experience having worked 10 years of his career with Wasaya Airways. Most recently, James was the CEO of Happy Time Tours, HTLeasing, and Carrick Express and is a Director on the Board of Nishnawbe Aski Development Fund.

James is looking forward to growing the airline and working with the Wasaya ownership group to ensure future success for everyone.

“I am extremely grateful for this opportunity and to have the trust of the Wasaya Chiefs, EIC, and board,” says James Ward. “I look forward to sharing my vision of the airline with the talented Wasaya team and the valued community members. Exciting times ahead”

James succeeds former President and CEO Tom Morris, who recently announced his retirement. Tom has been a leader with Wasaya Airways for 24 years, of which 16 were spent leading Wasaya as President and Chief Executive Officer.

Luke Reynolds, Chairman of the Wasaya Board says, “Tom was key in building strong working relationships with all our communities and was tremendously proud of Wasaya. His knowledge of the aviation industry and his commitment to working for the north will be missed. On behalf of the Board of Directors and staff, we thank Tom for his dedication, leadership and service to the airline and wish him a well-deserved and enjoyable retirement.”
