A growing trend has been identified worldwide among people to improve their appearance and look better. This can be attributed to several reasons, but especially social media with the rise in screen time of people using gadgets, smartphones, and clicking ‘selfies.’ Hence more people are opting for plastic surgery to correct their physical imperfections, whether real or just perceived.

Dr. Garrett Wirth, M.D., M.S., F.A.C.S., a board-certified Plastic Surgeon sees this trend happening at an accelerated rate. Specializing in Plastic Surgery, including cosmetic and reconstructive surgery, Dr. Wirth owns and operates his Plastic Surgery private practice as well as W Med Spa Newport Beach located in the world-famous Newport Beach, California, U.S.A. He is a concierge care provider offering high-quality medical care that is highly patient-centric. Dr. Wirth is best known for his expertise in breast augmentation, breast reconstruction, rhinoplasty (nose job), mommy makeover, and tummy tuck procedures on the surgical side.  On the other hand, “Non-surgical interventions are rising at a faster rate than surgical procedures” notes Dr. Wirth.

While pursuing his undergraduate studies at Muhlenberg College in Allentown, Pennsylvania, USA, Dr. Wirth was initially considering studying a profession in law while still enjoying the artistic opportunities available that have always been so important to him. Later, Dr. Wirth realized that he was more inclined towards biological research.  The artistry in biology and the logical applications necessary to conduct high-quality research blended so well for Dr. Wirth.  He then pursued and completed a Master’s in physiology and cell biology at Albany Medical College in Albany, New York, USA. This exposed him further to the field of medicine and new opportunities to do work more specifically toward answering dilemmas that face humans. Dr. Wirth began to conduct research in Vascular Surgery. This led to another decision to go to medical school. Upon completion of his Doctor of Medicine Degree from Albany Medical College, he matched into the General Surgery training program.  This included many rotations of various services.  When he got introduced to the reconstructive side of Plastic Surgery which also included microsurgery, he realized that this was his career path. After completing training in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery in the Aesthetic & Plastic Surgery Institute at the University of California – Irvine Medical Center, Dr. Wirth earned a certification from the American Board in Plastic Surgery.

Born July 14, 1970, Dr. Wirth began his career as an Assistant Clinical Professor at the Division of Plastic Surgery at the University of California.  He rose quickly through Associate Professor and then to Clinical Professor of Plastic Surgery.  During this time, he also assumed many leadership roles including Medical Director of the Wound Healing Center at MemorialCare – Long Beach, positions with the national society, and Chief of the Plastic Surgery Section at the Tibor Rubin Veteran’s Affairs Hospital Long Beach, to name a few. After pursuing teaching for over a decade including his work locally, nationally and internationally, Dr. Wirth then moved into a private practice in 2017.

Dr. Wirth cherished a dream to offer concierge medical care to his patients. He could bring their dream into reality both on the surgical side with Wirth Plastic Surgery and when he set up his wellness clinic including W Med Spa Newport Beach in Orange County California. This allowed him to offer personalized attention to his patients helping them overcome many concerns including cancer, trauma, congenital deformities, burns and especially cosmetic concerns. “It has allowed me to combine artistry with science, beauty with biology, and allowed me great joy to walk this journey with so many people.” Says Dr. Wirth.

One reconstructive area that has touched Dr. Wirth’s life very deeply is breast cancer.  Dr. Wirth has always been moved and felt particularly motivated for those who have been through the pain and trauma of breast cancer. He took it up as a personal challenge to help breast-cancer survivors restore their sense of femininity and wholeness. Not only did he gain expertise in breast restorative procedures, but his treatments are one of most advanced in the world. Dr. Wirth advocates the philosophy of working with his patients and his fellow doctors as a team for achieving best results. The high success rate and positive transformation in the lives of his patients endorses that this approach creates success for all involved. Dr. Wirth has even authored several manuscripts, chapters and books including ‘Personalized Breast Care: A Guide for Cosmetic Surgery, Breast Cancer, and Reconstruction’ to help women cope with their breast surgery journey including breast reconstruction.

With his dedication and spirit, Dr. Garrett Wirth enjoys a wide patronage of people seeking plastic surgery, cosmetic interventions and wellness.
