Lots of Hockey for Thunder Bay Queens This Weekend

Thunder Bay Queens Womeen's HockeyTHUNDER BAY – HOCKEY – There will be plenty of hockey action for the Thunder Bay Queens this weekend as four of their five member clubs will be the ice showcasing their skills.

Both the Sportop midget AA and the midget A Queens will welcome out of town competition at Fort William First Nation Arena while the RBC Dominion Securities bantam AA squad head to suburban Minneapolis for a four-game series and the Tim Hortons peewees take part in the Neebing Thunder on Ice event at the Thunder Bay Tournament Centre.

Action in the midget showcase at FWFNA gets underway at 6 p.m. as the midget A’s meet the Pembina Valley Hawks at 6 p.m. with the Sportop midget AA’s meeting the Dryden Eagles at 6:15 p.m. over on Rink No. 2.

Saturday sees the midget A’s squaring off with Dryden at 10:30 a.m. before tangling with the Fort Frances Leafs at 6 p.m.

Meanwhile, the Sportop Queens face-off with Pembina Valley at 4:30 p.m. Saturday and Fort Frances on Sunday morning at 9:30 a.m.

As for the RBC DS bantams they open up play Friday evening at 8:40 p.m. vs. the Roseville Raiders at the National Sports Center in Blaine, Minn.

Two more tilts are on the docket Saturday starting with an 11:30 a.m. encounter with the Champlin Park Rebels at 11:30 a.m. before taking on the Minnetonka Skippers at 7:15 p.m.

The bantams then wrap-up the weekend in the Twin Cities with an 11:20 a.m. match-up against the Blaine Bengals.

The peewee Queens commence play in the Neebing tourney with two games Friday as they meet the Westfort Rangers at 9:30 a.m. and the Neebing Hawks at 8 p.m.

Saturday has them going up against the KC Sabres at noon before finishing round robin play against the Norwest Stars at 4:45 p.m.
