Fort William Historical Park New Year’s Eve Tradition

THUNDER BAY – Entertainment – New Year’s Eve in Thunder Bay and Fort William Historical Park go hand in hand. Party-goers of all ages are invited to join in fun and festivities as Fort William Historical Park hosts the New Year’s Eve Family Frolic, happening from 6:00 until 10:00 pm, Tuesday, on New Year’s Eve, December 31st 2013.

There will be plenty of outdoor and indoor activities. You can bring your skates for the rink (no hockey sticks, please!) and whizz down the sliding hill.

Join in the Name the Baby Goat Triplets contest at the Farm.

Sign the Resolution Board.

Make some “snow graffiti” with coloured water.  Warm up by the bonfires.  Kids can search for treats in the hay pile.  Embark on a snowshoe trek. Play winter golf and the snowball slingshot. Visit some of the historic characters in their buildings.

Main Stage entertainment features Bon Journey.  Indoor entertainers include the Grumpy Grandpas and the Bates Brothers Magic Show.

Dog sled rides are happening at the Farm, at $10.00 per ride.  (This activity sells out quickly, so please come early!)

Indoor activities for kids include decorating sugar cookies, colouring, making snowflakes and kazoos.  Design an imaginative hat and compete for great prizes in the Crazy Hat Contest.

Admission for the Family Frolic: $10, adults; $8, seniors, students, and youths; free for children age 5 and under.  All prices include HST.

Snacks and beverages will be sold in the Cantine and the historic Dairy at the Farm.

Everyone will gather in the Main Square at 9:50 pm for the fabulous fireworks display.  The little ones get a chance to enjoy New Year’s excitement before heading home for bed.

Stay after the Family Frolic and enjoy scanning the stars during a special Starwalk program at the David Thompson Astronomical Observatory, running from 10:15 pm to 11:00 pm.  There is an additional fee for the Starwalk.

Ring in 2014 during the New Year’s Eve Family Frolic at Fort William Historical Park from 6 to 10 pm Tuesday, December 31st.
