THUNDER BAY – The Staal Foundation Open, presented by Tbaytel, returns to Whitewater Golf Club, July 13-19 with crowd-pleasing additions to the week-long event.
Continuing on the success of the inaugural event last year that saw over 12,000 people watch PGA TOUR Canada players from around the world, organizers have been busy planning the activities for this coming year.
“Last year was our first year and our focus was primarily on hosting the best event on PGA TOUR Canada and making certain the competitors, organizers and crowds would look forward to coming back. We are planning to add some additional crowd-pleasers this year, expanding on our objective of providing a week-long festival associated with the golf event for the community to enjoy,” said Joe Quaresima member of the Tournament Director Committee.
The planning has begun for new activities at this year’s event, including interactive golf, Power Golf and Trick Shot Exhibition, an Executive Women’s Day and a Million Dollar Shootout, involving competitors from Thunder Bay and the entire Northwestern Ontario region.
In addition, there will be an expansion of corporate suites on the 18th green this year, allowing local companies to treat their staff or entertain their clients for a day at the event. There are currently a number of new sponsorship opportunities available as well.
The Staal family will continue to be a major supporter of the event, helping to raise funds for the Staal Family Foundation, supporting families and children battling cancer, along with Tbaytel, returning as presenting sponsor.
